National Qualifications
FITEC sets National Qualifications for the Forestry, Wood Manufacturing and Furniture Making sectors. FITEC qualifications are made up nationally registered unit standards which can only be assessed by accredited training organisations or registered workplace assessors.
PROGRAMME TYPES
There are three types of qualifications. The first are National Certificates (NC) which consist of a combination of unit standards that cover a particular subject area. National Certificates usually take 1 - 2 years to complete.
Sometimes, two or more National Certificates are combined to form a Modern Apprenticeship Programme (MAP) MAPs are like a trade qualifications and usually take 3 - 4 years to complete.
In addition, FITEC also has Limited Credit Programmes (LCPs) which are a subset of unit standards taken from a particular NC. LCPs are short courses and can take anywhere from 4 - 8 months to complete.
