Bachelor of Science (Forestry)

Rusell Judd knew early that he wanted a career with the same "great outdoors, adrenaline and physical challenge" mix, he'd enjoyed growing up. Only forestry fitted the bill: "Forestry offers a more varied range of opportunities, and encourages you to keep advancing more than almost any other career."

Russell attended Waiaraki Polytechnic, did an eighteen week logging course, and then went on to university. Readily available forestry work each holidays meant no student loan.

Employed at his very first interview (Interpine Forestry Ltd), he's had two overseas trips in his first year. A trip to the United States, plus a month doing inventory work in Brazil - staying in a luxury hotel. Forestry offers opportunities for everyone, Russell says. "With so many trees coming on line we'll need 19,000 new employees in the next five years."
