What is a Modern Apprentice?

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN!

" class=If you are the kind of person who learns best by doing things, then training on the job (sometimes called Industry Training) may be your best option. There are two ways to work towards National Qualifications while you're employed. You can become a Modern Apprentice, or a Trainee.

Modern Apprentice

The Modern Apprenticeship Programme helps people who are new to the wood industry to become achievers by:

  • Providing coaching right from the start.
  • Providing high quality training that leads to the achievement of a National Certificate/s.
  • Identifying strengths and weaknesses early on, and quickly filling in any knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Developing relevant Training Plans that help Modern Apprentices complete their qualification.
  • Visiting the Employer and Modern Apprentice at least once each quarter.
  • Establishing time frames together (between the Employer and Modern Apprentice) for the Modern Apprentice to complete his or her training.

TO QUALIFY AS A MODERN APPRENTICE, YOU NEED TO:

  • Be aged between 16 and 21 on entry to the programme.
  • Have a signed Training Agreement with FITEC and your Employer to train towards a National Certificate/s at Level 3 and/or Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework.
  • Be enrolled with a FITEC Modern Apprenticeship Co-ordinator.
